The 12th Iberoamerican Congress on Pattern Recognition (CIARP 2007) will be held in Viña del Mar-Valparaíso, Chile. CIARP 2007 is organized by the Informatics Engineering Department of Universidad de Santiago de Chile (USACH) and Universidad Técnica Federico Santa María (USM), and sponsored by the Chilean Association on Computer Science (SCCC), the Mexican Association for Computer Vision, Neural Computing and Robotics (MACVNR), the Cuban Association for Pattern Recognition (ACRP), the Portuguese Association for Pattern Recognition (APRP), the Spanish Association for Pattern Recognition and Image Analysis (AERFAI), and the Special Interest Group on Pattern Recognition of the Brazilian Computer Society (SIGPR-SBC).
CIARP 2007, as all the eleven previous conferences, will be a forum for the exchange of scientific results and experiences, as well as the sharing of new knowledge, and the increase of the co-operation between research groups in pattern recognition and related areas.
Internationally renowned professors will give Keynote Addresses and Tutorials.

PAPER SUBMISSION AND REVIEW PROCESS
All the 10 A4-pages papers will be submitted in English, and must be presented at the conference in English. All submissions will be peer reviewed for originality, technical content and relevance to the theme of this conference by three members of the Scientific Committee. The reviewing process will be double-blind. For this, the authors must leave blank the name of the authors for the paper and any self-citation. Papers that do not adhere to this requirement will be rejected without going through the revision process.
The papers must be submitted electronically before May 31, 2007, through the SUBMISSION option in the CIARP 2007 webpage. The papers should be prepared following the instructions from Springer LNCS series.

Submission implies the willingness of at least one of the authors to register and to present the communication at the conference, if it is accepted. All accepted papers will be published in a LNCS volume by Springer upon registration of at least one of the authors.
